Joyce Siromoni

Dr.  Joyce Siromoni – Our Founder Secretary

 A medical graduate (1954) from Christian Medical College, Vellore and D.    (Obst.) RCOG from London (1960), Dr. Joyce Siromoni worked in various hospitals in U.K. and India and was involved in community health programmes including care of leprosy patients.

In 1967 there came a single most important turning point in her life, when she helped to establish Medico Pastoral Association, Bangalore, the first Halfway Home in India and helmed it as Hony. Secretary.

She moved with her family to Kolkata in the late eighties. In 1991, she was instrumental in establishing Paripurnata, the first Halfway Home in Eastern India. She worked tirelessly and was the driving force as the Hony. Secretary of Paripurnata from its inception till 2010, when she moved to Chennai. Paripurnata continues to be recipient of her advice, as a permanent invitee to the Managing Committee.

 Her single minded dedication to the cause had been recognized and acclaimed by her peers, at national and international levels. She has received numerous awards and honours for her achievements.

She is still  quite active  as advisor to a few governmental agencies in Chennai, on mental health related issues.
